The NCPD team paid a courtesy call to the Taita Taveta County Commissioner Josephine Anunga in her offices ahead of the Population Policy Dissemination process taking place in the Coastal Region. The team is lead by Director Research Monitoring and Evaluation Ms. Catherine Ndei, Taita Taveta County Commissioner Josephine Anunga receiving a copy of the Population Policy from a member of the NCPD Board of Directors Mr. Parveen Sigey. The Garissa County Commissioner(Left) Mr Mohamed Ramadhan, the Chief Guest with NCPD DG Dr. Mohamed Sheikh(Right) in a session during the Dissemination of the Kenya Population Policy for Sustainable Development in Garissa County Board of Directors Mr. James Kimonye lead the NCPD team in paying a courtesy call to the Nyeri County Commissioner Mr. Pius Murugu who is also the Acting Regional Commissioner for Central Region. The dissemination process of the Kenya National Population Policy for Sustainable Development is ongoing in Nyeri. Courtesy call to the County Commissioner Isiolo Mr. Godfrey Omoding and presented him a copy of the recently launched Sessional Paper no 1 of 2023 on the Kenya National Population Policy for Sustainable Development. The dissemination exercise is currently underway across all the 47 counties. It is expected that all stakeholders will provide county specific feedback which will guide in the implementation of the policy and garner public awareness and support

Who We Are

The National Council for Population and Development (NCPD) was established in 1982 as a department in the then office of the Vice President and Ministry of Home Affairs. Its role was mainly to advice on all matters pertaining to population. NCPD’s mandate was further enhanced under Sessional Paper No. 4 of 1984 on Population Policy Guidelines, and was later revised, to form the backbone of Sessional Paper No. 1 of 2000 on National Population Policy for Sustainable Development.
