Ms. Rahab Muiu is the current National Chairperson of Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organization (MYWO) and the immediate past National Vice Chairperson Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organization and former Provincial Chairperson Eastern Province. Former Managing Director Samurai Kenya Limited (Family Export Business). She is also the Chairperson of African Center for Empowerment Gender and Advocacy (AC-EGA) an international advocacy NGO which used to be involved in UN and Regional work covering African Union and NEPAD among others. She is renowned Kenyan Entrepreneur who pioneered the weaving and marketing of Kenya handcrafts especially ‘kiondo’ abroad and has been instrumental in empowering Kenyan women economically especially the former Kitui and Machakos districts which are among origins of handcrafts. She has also marketed and exported the Kisii soapstone, the woodcarvings from Akamba Cooperative in Changamwe, Mombasa and the Murang’a ‘mugio’ basket handcrafts from Turkana women groups thus empowering the communities in those areas for the last three decades. She was involved in the Floriculture business in early 90s and is a member of Mothers Union (ACK) Church.
