The 2030 Agenda recognizes the cardinal roles of parliamentarians in ensuring political buy-in, financing and accountability to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Above all, it calls for early and meaningful engagement of parliamentarians in national efforts to translate the global agenda into practice. The Parliament, through the Kenya Parliamentary Caucus on Sustainable Development Goals and Business has undertaken various initiatives towards implementation of SDGs across the 17 Goals. The Caucus is an Association of Parliamentarians convened at the beginning of the 12th parliament pursuant to Parliament Standing order 259, with the purpose of promoting Sustainable Development and Responsive Business through legislation, representation, oversight and partnerships. With a membership of 30 parliamentarians, the Caucus has representation from all regions of the country. The membership has also spread across substantial House committees that enable coverage of a broader scope of SDGs’ work.
