BOARD CHAIRMAN HANDOVER
This morning the outgoing NCPD Board Chairman Hon. David Ngugi has officially handed over to the incoming board chairman Gen. (Rtd) Julius Karangi at the Council Offices in Nairobi. Gen. Julius Karangi was appointed by President William Ruto as the NCPD Board chairman effective 23rd December, 2022.
Speaking during the handover, Hon. Ngugi congratulated Gen. Karangi on his appointment as the NCPD Board Chair noting that the Council has played a vital role in the implementation of the Population Program in Kenya.
Hon. Ngugi noted that his tenure at the Council has seen remarkable progress made notably in the approval of the Kenya National Population Policy for Sustainable Development by the Cabinet, implementation of the 2018 – 2022 Strategic Plan, hosting of the 4th National Leaders’ Conference, Implementation of The Nairobi Summit Kenya Country Commitments on ICPD25 among others.
On his part Gen. Karangi thanked President William Ruto for appointing him as the Chair of the NCPD board and promised to serve with dignity, diligence and professionalism. He reiterated his commitment to the delivery of the NCPD Mandate noting that it was crucial for development in Kenya. Addressing the Senior Management, he urged them to serve Kenyans as a hallmark to humanity. He thanked Hon. David Ngugi for his leadership during his tenure and promised to continue building on his legacy to move NCPD forward.
The NCPD Director General Dr. Mohamed Sheikh led the Senior Management Team in welcoming the new Board Chairman and the board of directors was represented by Mr. James Kimonye.
